Rainy Bike Tour Sattel and Ibergeregg (1406 m )

Today weather forecasts are very accurate as they use radar images to show where it is raining and where it is dry.

I was 27 years a runner, so basically I didn’t care what weather it is. When it is very nasty you have to wear a Coretex-jacket and you are fine. As a cyclist or biker you have to be choosier. So I was very happy when I was introduced to NZZ radar images.

As Saturday was all day rain, I was very determined to find the right time on Sunday to go out on a tour in the Alps. But 7 AM, 8 AM and 9 AM was heavy rain in Zurich. So I was pleased when a read the radar image saying the Central Switzerland is all dry.

Doubt came when I left the train and the temperature on my bike computer said: 9 degrees. I started calculating. On top it must be then close to zero. I was lucky on the top it was 4 and then on the other side of the pass it was 3, when I went downhill. And yes – with the help of both hands, I managed to change gears as one hand alone, frozen was too weak. But after all it was a very nice Sunday, as there were not many cars driving up Ibergeregg. And in 4 hours I didn’t see one bike.
